Are you a charity?
No we are not a charity. We are a small business set up to help raise funds for local charities, showcase local businesses and to help get people out and about. We are very pleased to support a number of different charities in the different cities and we believe that this way we can work with more people and as the years go by support a wider variety of causes.
How much do you donate to Charity?
We donate 30% of revenue (unlike many charity cards that donate only 10p per card sold) of any book sold and so far this has managed to raise over £65,000 in Sheffield for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity. This year we hope to raise £75,000 for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity and Cash for Kids.
Are there any restrictions?
Since the first book we have learned a lot and have worked closely with the businesses to ensure that this year we avoid as many problems as we can. There have been certain restraints that have been introduced by some businesses involved. This is due to the massive success of the project and these time restraints allow the businesses to manage the demand. No voucher will cost you any additional expense, we simply ask that you book in advance for all applicable voucherss. In additon, please read the Terms and Conditions for each business before using each voucher. Remember, there are still absolutely NO HIDDEN COSTS.

Are there any Restrictions?
Within the hotels, there are 2 hotels that have day use restrictions. The Maynard and the Copthorne have day restrictions (please see their section for exact details) and within the Bar & Restaurants, please book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Please note: We have done everything in our power to keep this book restriction free and 90% of the vouchers are. 100% of the vouchers have No Hidden Costs. We do ask however, that everyone purchasing a book remembers that the businesses involved are still businesses.
Why should I spend £50.00 of my hard earned cash on this?
Where else can you get £1,167 for just £50 or more importantly, what else gives you a Hotel night worth £85.00 and then hands you a book for another £1,082. Or, if you don’t like hotels, check out the bottom of this page..
Why do I have to wait for the book to be delivered?
We have a separate ‘buying period’ for security purposes. There are several reasons for this all really to do with security. The first, is to prevent any going missing in advance of the start date. The second is for our partners, all of the vouchers are valid for 1 year from September 1st 2010 onwards and we want to make sure that no one tries to use the vouchers before they start.
And the final reason, is so you don’t lose the books before you get to play with them.
Are the vouchers transferable? / Can my friends and family use them?
Each Sheffield gift book comes with a master voucher, specific for each individual book. This master voucher must be produced when individual vouchers are used. The master vouchers aren’t specific to the individual person purchasing the book so the master vouchers can be lent to friends or family allowing them to take advantage of the vouchers that you don’t wish to use.
Can I sell the vouchers on ebay?
In short, no. We have found people doing this and each time we have asked them to remove the auction. All businesses have been told that no vouchers are valid without the key fob and they will NOT be paid unless this is shown. Please do not buy any vouchers you see for sale online as without the key fob you will not be able to use them.
How many Books can I order?
A maximum of 5 at a time. If you are a business and want to buy more for your staff, then contact us (check out the contact us section for our details.)
What happens if I lose my key fob / Master Voucher?
You can request a replacement key fob / master voucher from us if you misplace your original. There will be a £10 fee for all replacements issued. On replacing your key fob, your old key fob will become void. Please send a cheque, made payable to ‘Cities unleashed’ to our office address, Kroto Innovation centre, Broad Lane, Sheffield, S3 7HQ. We will send the fob back to your address (we suggest a business one) by 1st class recorded delivery.
What do the partner businesses get out of this?
First of all they will receive a share in the Sales price of the book, though this is nowhere near the value of the offers they have put in (on average they will receive <5% of their offer value.)
Secondly, you will hopefully pick their Hotel, Restaurant, Activity, Health Spa or Bar to visit and whilst there spend a little more money.
Thirdly, that you had such a good time that you return there again without a voucher.
Fourthly, Weston Park Cancer Hospital Charity and Cash for Kids are amazing causes, so this is a nice way to help them raise £75,000
This looks like a great bonus gift from my company to me, how do I get them to buy it?
We’re glad you think that, we do to! Get them to contact us or show them the website, fliers and posters and persuade HR that this makes a perfect, early Christmas gift. If all else fails, give them our details and badger them to call..
Why is the Sheffield book capped at 5,000 books?
Simply because, our partners will be donating £5,835,000 to the lucky 5,000 who buy the book and that is a lot of money. You never know though, our next book in 1 year’s time might be worth even more and have even more chances for people to buy. Drop us an email to be kept informed of what will be coming up.
Why are you doing this only once per year?
Because we think that this is a pretty special and insanely generous gift book and so like Christmas, the Sheffield gift book will come only once per year.
So many Experiences, how to use them all?
Well, they are all valid for at least 1 year (one is even valid for 2 years), so there should be plenty of time to pluck up the courage to jump at UK Bungee, drink in 18fifty5, have a meal at Cubana or try hair treatments at Boudoir hair (or SAKS, Toni & Guy and Tall Poppy.) Don’t fancy any of that, then why not watch the Sheffield Eagles, or head over to Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United.
